BASS to make your BOOTY move

So, last month saw the release of the newest remix EP of Electro House veteran Mason's classic dancefloor destroyer "Exceeder". I'm a newcomer to Electro, so I just learned about this killa a few weeks ago, but I'm quickly realizing why it's been re-released so many times and just won't go away!!

Here's the original tune, which was released in the long long ago of 2006. In an electro universe much different than the one us lifeforms of 2010 are familiar with.
You may be in for a shock...

If that gets your juices flowin, then peep Felguk's exquisite rework of this tune featured on the new EP. It gets me in the zone on the dancefloor every time.  Enjoy...

oh yea... ere you go...

DJ Madam Bliss has entered the builiding

So glad to be posting this. Love, love, love this woman! Her name is Madam Bliss. When I first got into this whole dubstep scene, I went to a show and saw her, and then later on a few months later saw her yet again, and met her! What I love about her is she was my first woman dubstep artist. Ofcourse there's Reid Speed and others, but I loved how she would just spin like it was no one's buisness at the Black Hole. And spin she did, she's been at this for quite some time, and she adds an awesome touch with the dreads. I finally was able to find 3, 1-hour long mixes by her, and today's daily dose is one of them. It's called Dublissious! Tastey, it just rolls off the tounge doesn't it. You have an hour of dubstep that goes from heavy, grimey,
wobbly basslines, to mellow, reggae sounding beats and back to the grime.
It is essentially, Grime. Luckly, for those of you in the
DC/MD/VA area, she's preforming at Masquerave 2!

So enjoy today's daily 1-hr long does, of the one and only, DJ MADAM BLISS.

Yippie-Ky-A Motherfuckers

Boy, i just couldn't wait till morning to share this one. Love, love, love it. It's grime, it's simple, and it's got the vocal background that i love. You know, that one guy who pops up in those songs, "as far back as I can remember i wanted to be a gangerster," "yippie-ky-a mother fucker," and "make my day," deep and dark comes to mind every time. The song is by Datski, be sure to also check out his sick MySpace. How would he descibe his sound? "Grimey industrial devious future ninja techbots wrapped in tinfoil and thrown down the stairs, only to be ran over by a steamroller and hung out to dry." He's originally from Canada, and definately knows how to bring on the dirty."

Interested in seeing him live and live in the DC/MD/VA area? Or you just wanna be cool and make the road trip down, which by the way you should, he'll be in Baltimore at the famous Burbon Street! on the night of May 8, 2010, for an absolute PARTY of Mayhem for Steeze Promo's Spring Massive! I will be blogging about the even as it draws closer, however, get a feel for what's in store with this song, Nuke Em'! Grime as FUCK, is all I have to say.

This week at the Black Hole: Freedom Thursday!

To those in the DC/MD/VA area, listen up! The black hole is having another Freedom Thursday! The event is End The Fed Edition On Tax Day 4/15. I'm actually quite impressed with the description for this party;

"Your not gonna wanna miss the taxday edition of freedom thursday! good vibes brings u a special event on april 15th to raise awareness about the unconsitutional actions of the federal reserve bank, a private corporation that extorts our hard earned money every week to fund wars that we dont agree with and even worse!! This will be the dopest freedom thursday you will see in a very very long time!!!

Main Room

Genki // Happy Hardcore // VA

With almost 2 decades of experience behind the decks, Genki is no stranger to the world of dj'ing and electronic music. From a very early age, he knew exactly what it was he wanted to do with his life, and that was to spread the joy that music brought him to every single person he could. His passion for dj'ing and electronic dance music have stood the test of time, as he seems equally as energetic behind the decks as he did when he first started. Genki's addiction to vinyl and dj'ing started at a very young age, and by the time he was just 18 years old, he had scored a residency dj'ing to thousands each week at Virginia's largest nightclub The Abyss, and was named head dj. He held onto this residency for 5 years, all the while touring to various Hardcore and Drum & Bass shows around the country, playing at underground and club venues alike. Since The Abyss, Genki has obtained residencies at several notable nightclubs including The Ambush, Avanti's, The Wave, Club Vanqual, Dance 4 Life, Soundscape, Club Exit NYC, and Omega Bar as well as consistently played on several US and UK hardcore internet radio stations over the past 12 years.

Although he stays busy with dj'ing, he never seems to tire of the Hardcore sound, as it's very evident in his sets that this music moves him greatly. Having a great affinity towards the melodic, uplifting freeform sound, he blends his roots in ambient and new age music with the energetic, driving sounds of hardcore into a seamless mix that progresses smoothly from beginning to end. His unique sound is coupled by his very high energy performances that leave everyone coming back for more. Still playing on several internet radio stations, playing in a band, and running a massive bi-weekly called Hollodeck, Genki only plans to work even harder in the coming years, hell bent on putting more smiles on faces and exposing more people to the sound that he loves so much. Now a part of the band A.I. (vocals/synth/programming), music videos are in the works as well as upcoming shows for the band and more expansion into other subgenres. His main focus however, has not changed over the years, as he firmly believes it's the ravers that keep him going, and he certainly loves to give them what they want!

Trigga Happy // Happy Hardcore // MD/VA

“Trigga Happy” is a unique happy hardcore tag team duo based out of Washington DC and Baltimore. Their focus is not only on slamming dance floors with bass heavy beats but also taking crowd participation to a new level during their sets. They constantly rotate between crushing the decks and leading a multitude of stage acts. Crowd interaction is everything to this duo. They are constantly coming up with new and exciting ways to get the crowd involved, bringing them the freshest beats and the wildest stage acts around. Attend a Trigga Happy show and you will walk away with an experience that goes beyond the music. Chad Moore and Justin Hunt are two veterans of the Washington DC and Baltimore dance music scenes. With more than a decade of combined experience in playing shows and hosting them they are truly in tune with local crowds and know what it takes to get dance floors filled. As individual DJs, both Chad (Stryda!) and Justin (J-Dastardly) were firmly entrenched in their local and regional scenes, playing and hosting multiple shows per month from Florida to Philly. Neither one has ever been satisfied with just one genre, when rocking the decks there was no telling what they might play. Drum and bass, breaks, house, dubstep and of course hard dance; all styles are fair game for both of them. Their love of hard dance has fueled their desire to break free from their normal routine and join forces as Trigga Happy. They also linked up with Good Vibes Promo, DC and Baltimore's premiere hard dance promoter and one of the freshest production company's around. Reaching back to their happy hardcore roots and remembering the things that really drew them into the scene, Chad and Justin began to program full stage shows geared towards the younger, more energetic crowds that pack Good Vibe shows on a monthly basis. Now, with forces joined Trigga Happy and Good Vibes promo are out to send a message. With multiple shows planned in DC and Baltimore they are determined to spread the word that hard dance music is back and to make it known that the Nation's Capital is just as hardcore as any city!

We encourage everyone to get involved in our shows. Don't just show up, bring the rave! We know that the crowd is really what makes an event and we want to see everyone in attendance throwing down. Break out your best dance moves, get dressed up in your most outrageous outfits, light up the venue with glow sticks and lasers! With your help we can turn these shows into a memory that will last for years to come. We'll be rocking it from the booth but we won't hesitate to join you on the dance floor or bring some of you on stage with us. Its all about unity and positive vibes. A gathering of great music, friends and fun like no other.

Treachery // Hardcore // VA

DJ Treachery ‘The Torn Prince’ began his career as a DJ, rather ironically, through an introduction to the art form by a formidable member of the DC Punk and Hardcore scene. Tom Lyle, the guitarist of Government Issue, mentored DJ Treachery and helped him get his start as a DJ in Hip Hop at the tender age of 15, performing at house and block parties under various aliases. Not long after his initial start with Hip Hop, DJ Treachery began to experiment with different styles of electronic dance music, incorporating the forms into his celebrated party-rocking mixes. His reputation as a versatile DJ grew rapidly, and earned him a weekly residency at WQFS Radio while in school…all the while producing Hip Hop beats for various rap and R&B groups. Upon graduation from university, DJ Treachery took a break from music; to travel, find inspiration, and reinvent himself as an artist. It was during that time that he realized his true calling—representing and purveying the rough, earth-shaking Hardcore Gabber sound and abandoned his diverse roots to become a purist of Hardcore. Emerging fresh in the summer of 2007, ditching his old alias and renaming himself “DJ Treachery ‘The Torn Prince,’” without a doubt is quickly becoming a fast rising star in the American Hardcore scene. His relentless spit-fire style mixing, complemented by his original productions have earned him love and respect from die-hard gabbers around the world, and earning him spots in some of the most notorious and respected Hardcore DJ crews in the USA. Recently signed onto Convulsive Records in Belgium, DJ Treachery ‘The Torn Prince’ will soon leave his mark on the world and be recognized as a Prince of American Hardcore

Korrupt yourselves

Back to the blog, Tuesday morning! Took a vacation this weekend to suprise my crew up in Ithaca, NY with my friend Bret! Although it was somewhat cold, and ofcourse it snowed Saturday night, overall it was a good trip with a kick ass ride up. To get right into things, coming back I saw that one of our boys for the blog, a Mr. Korrupt, has finally come out with his YouTube Channel!

Korrupts new mix, is in celebration of his move from Vuelten, NL to Utrecht, NL-and congratulations to you! The mix is called Welcome to Utreg Dubstep Mix, the tracklist is as follows:

DJG-Bunker
Ital Tek-Strange Love
Martyn-Cosmos
The Subdivision-Feelin' Love
Seven- Dark Passenger
Kromestar-Awake
Black Sun Empire- Hyper Sun
Dubwoofa-Kingdom Come
Benga-One Million

The whole mix is about 35 min long, and it shows a darker side of dubstep which I havn't posted as much on the blog, but the ambient more softer/darker sounds bring out a side of dubstep that most don't discover. Be sure to check out the rest of Korrupt' stuff on either his SoundCloud or Myspace.

Enjoy today's daily dose featuring one of our own, KORRUPT

And Here It Is!!!

I've got a serious case of insomnia! Been surfin YouTube all night, been busy posting up old videos of past raves when I came along two videos I absolutely loved from fall massive: this is it!

The first video is made by 2khAAT [which suprisingly enough is pronounced like "too hot" instead of "2k-hat." HA!
My favorite is Reid Speed-she comes in at the 1:49 mark, then if you look quick and fast you can see my girl Sallie!!!-starting at 1:56-she's the girl with the headband and BRIGHT gorgeous blonde hair and all black! Mad credit for this video-created by 2khAAT, hosted by Steeze Promo!

The second video is made by Steeze Promo I believe and info is as follows;

"Steez Promo found it highly necessary to add UK dubstep champions Emalkay and 16-Bit to the lineup of "And Here it is, The Return of Fall Massive." The event took place in Baltimore, MD and was pure madness to say the least.
Dub Nation Video Blog Vol 2.0 features an interview and concert performance footage of Birminghams finest, Emalkay. In the featured interview, he discusses both the U.K. and U.S. dubstep scenes"
My boy Nick come in at the 20 mark!

Let me tell you, that girl is my other raving half since I arrived to Ithaca in September and asked her if she knew what dubstep was. Ever since, she and I have been findin grime beats and raving instead of behavin ;)

Enjoy.

Just like Ice Cold Lemonade

Good morning to everyone. I'm up and moving a little faster today! I thought I should have today's daily dose be a little more electro-upbeat, which isn't where I usually tend to lead but it's Monday, everyone needs a little kick to get their day started :D

So today's dose is by an artist that goes by the name Erol Alkan. Hailing from the UK, some say he lives up to his name with some of the best electro around. Not much to say about this self explanatory song-but enjoy this quote describing Erol Alkan.

"I heard that he invented the mash-up. I heard that he created the second coming of French Touch just by remixing Justice’s “Waters Of Nazareth”. I heard he bought guitar music back from the grave. No, it was electronic music. Or was it reggae? I heard he once revived a Roland 303 just by looking at it. Didn’t you hear? He’s bringing psychedelia back? Wait – I heard he’s bringing Disco back? Didn’t you hear?"

Happy Monday everyone,

Thizzle x

Rub-a-dub-dub, here's Sunday's daily dub

Happy Easter Holiday's everyone! I hope everyone got a few easter eggs in their basket today, although I didn't 'hunt' for eggs today, I woke up to the best prize;) For those of you who have been a little down on your Sunday [because tomorrow's Monday] then this should put your spirits on high! For those of you who are fans of Crookers, you'll like the edgy dub that builds up. Featuring the song is Miike Snow. Both artists have an electro-dub-pop feel that gets me wanting to break down and pop it.

Enjoy your daily dose on this gorgeous Sunday
Much love,
thizzle x

Innocence-New NERO

I am so happy to be writing this post today! Just found out new Nero is offically out and i'm loving the raw beats. Bass baron, Nero has always brought the bass in their tracks to life. Heavy and haunting are their tracks-Innocence does not fail to show the raw feelings of dubstep.

Enjoy, New Nero! Innocene.
Much love,
thizzle x
